There are three main bosses in Core Keeper that you need to defeat to progress in the game, and there are also other bosses to be found.
Boss fights are often more difficult than defeating regular enemies, but are an important part of games like Core Keeper.
In Core Keeper, there are three main bosses that determine your progression in the game and other bosses that can be found throughout. Knowing what these bosses look like, where they are, and how they attack is a critical part of the game.
The importance of boss fights in a game
Boss fights are a beloved tradition and are the parts of games that many players remember and talk about long after they have finished them. Fighting a boss enemy usually involves a multi-stage fight but can lead to rewards like rare items, new locations, and unlocking new NPCs (non-player characters).
Defeating bosses gives you a chance to show off the skills you have built up throughout your progression in the game up to that point. Boss fights may require more than one attempt to defeat your enemy and to get victory in these fights, players usually need to learn the patterns and weaknesses in the boss’s attacks. This helps you optimise your offensive and defensive strategies.
Core Keeper: Bosses
The boss fights in Core Keeper are some of the most challenging elements of the game. In the game, there are three “main” bosses that you absolutely need to fight and defeat in order to earn a gem to place in the statues that represent them and to power up the core.
Powering up this core is how you advance in and finish this game. These main bosses are Glurch the Abominable, Ghorm the Devourer, and the Hive Mother.

There are also other bosses like Azeos the Sky Titan, Malugaz the Corrupted, and Ivy the Poisonous Mass that can be found in Core Keeper, more specifically in a biome called Azeos Wilderness, which was released as part of the early access launch of the game and must be unlocked separately.
These boss fights are optional, meaning that you do not need to beat these bosses to successfully finish the game.
In order to have a better understanding of the bosses in Core Keeper, it is important to know what each boss is, where you can find them, and the fighting styles that these bosses employ when you fight them.
The different bosses in Core Keeper
To get a good idea of the bosses you will be fighting in the game, it is important to know what the bosses look like. This can be summarised as follows:

Name of the boss | Location |
Glurch the Abominous Mass | Glurch is located close to your starting point in the game, where there are concentrated puddles of slime. |
Ghorm the Devourer | Ghorm has a tunnel running around the entire map and is constantly circling the tunnel. |
The Hive Mother | Uses the Glurch statue at the centre of the map to create a Hive Mother beacon which shows its location on the map. |
Azeos the Sky Titan | You need a scanner to see Azeos’s location and a “large shiny glimmering object” to lure it into the Azeos Wilderness. |
Malugaz the Corrupted | Malugaz’s summoning spot is in the Ruins biome. |
Ivy the Poisonous Mass | Ivy is located in the Azeos Wilderness biome where there is a concentration of pink slime puddles. |
