About Mohgwyn Palace
Mohgwyn Palace is one of the optional locations in the Elden Ring game that allows players the opportunity to loot for items, fight and defeat enemies, and to take on the boss fight in this location, which is one of the most difficult boss fights in the game.
In this boss fight, you face Mohg, Lord of Blood. Defeating him will reward you with the Remembrance of the Blood Lord and Mohg’s Great Rune. Mohgwyn Palace is also one of the best rune farming locations in the game, which is why many players want to travel to it.
Elden Ring: Can you get to Mohgwyn Palace without Varre?
The most common way for players to travel to the Mohgwyn Palace is by completing various tasks for an NPC called White Knight Varre. However, if you already killed Varre early in the game, there is another way to get to the palace to face Mohg and farm for runes.
Unfortunately, his path to the Mohgwyn Palace is only accessible to you near the end of your game, as you need access to the Mountaintops of the Giants. There, you can use a secret teleporter to take you to the palace.
Though there is a secret spot that can be seen on the western side of the map from the Mountaintops of the Giants, often referred to as the Consecrated Snowfield, there is no clear path to get to this area, but this is where the teleporter is located.
In order to use this teleporter, it is important that you know how to reach the secret area of the Mountaintops of the Giants, how to find the portal when you have reached the mountains, and where to go once you have teleported.
How to get to the Consecrated Snowfield
The secret area in the western part of the Mountaintops of the Giants can be complicated to get to. It involves a few steps that enable you to have both parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion, so that you can reach this area using the Grand Lift of Rold.
These steps are as follows:
Process | Explanation |
Get the right side of the Haligtree Secret Medallion | This part can be found at Liurnia of the Lakes: Village of the Albinauries. Here, you can use the path from the site of grace until you find a barrel. Walk towards the barrel until the NPC reveals himself from this disguise, then exhaust the dialogue. |
Get the left side of the Haligtree Secret Medallion | You need to defeat Morgott and Commander Niall to combine the two medallion pieces earned from winning these battles. |
Use the Medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold | Go to the Lift of Rold and press the left or right arrow to switch to the Medallion and show it to this lift. |
How to get to Mohgwyn Palace from The Consecrated Snowfield
When you reach the Consecrated Snowfields, walk in a western direction until you find an area covered in white tree stumps.
Here, it is important to know that an NPC named Sanguine Noble will invade you. He is not too difficult to defeat and you can continue towards the cliff where the fallen tree is. You need to defeat Sanguine Noble before you can use the portal. After this, you will find the portal, just south of the tree.
What to do after you have been teleported
Once you interact with the portal, you can select that it should take you to Mohgwyn Palace. You will then end up in a cave that you can follow down to the cliff.
Then, follow the path on the northern side of the cliffs, past the site of grace, and all the way down to the front of Mohgwyn Palace.
