Paragon, the free-to-play MOBA from Gears of War mastermind Epic Games, is officially shutting up shop on April 26. As a result, players who purchased the game can now request a refund by heading to the company’s official website and linking your Epic account.
Originally launching in March 2016 as an early access title via pay-to-play, Paragon transitioned to a free-to-play model in April the following year in open beta form. However, Epic’s now said that it has no choice but to shutter the MOBA as it didn’t have a clear path in which to grow the game into a sustainable service.
‘It’s with heavy hearts we’ve decided to close down Paragon,’ said the developer. We truly appreciate everything you’ve put into Paragon. We received many passionate ideas for where to take the game; the outpouring of thoughtful suggestions is another testament to this incredible community.’
The studio went on to note that the quality and matchmaking times for Paragon will continue to degrade as the player base dwindles in the run up to the closing date.
